Translation: Wink Up 2008-08 [Sho]
Done in some spare time for Japanese practice.

Nabbed from [info]yuckie_chan Original post here.

Sho has some thoughts to share on the Dream Alive Concerts.

Specially, he reveals his true feelings about one of his costumes. None of the concert reports I've read so far have mentioned what the boys are wearing, so I found this article amusing ^^

.

I guess even after a decade in Johnny's, certain idols still can't fathom WHY they wear what they wear. And for good reason.

It’s the middle of our tour, and I’m having a bit of a problem… As you know, we have a parade in our concert. And I’m the last one to come out. When it comes to parade costumes, we all have our own outfits. But no matter how I look at it, my outfit is… well, I call it a “frilled lizard”, and Ninomiya calls it “A ‘Bravo, Sho-san!’ kinda outfit.” (lol) When we were first deciding on costumes, I said things like, “Hold on, are you sure this will work?” But that sort of talk led to a bit of conflict (lol).

The other four members were definitely not wrong. But still, even though they had a point, I still don’t think the outfit works. I’d say that even under normal circumstances, but with me coming out last… it’s like I’ve become the punch line of the parade (lol). I mean, the audience in the top seats are pointing and laughing at me even before I’ve moved into the spotlight. I’m sorry, but I haven’t even come out yet! …And that’s why (lol). There’s no way to use brackets for that.

And plus, directly in front of me is Ohno-san on his Bubble Float, sending bubbles in all directions. So there I’d be in my frilled lizard suit, with bubbles flying at me… pretty awful, huh? (lol).

Honestly, I don’t know what to do… I can’t see a way out of this. This is really bothering me. Well, these things happen, I guess (lol). Looking back, I remember the staff saying to me, “It’s good that up until now, you haven’t sustained any major injuries,” and I thought, “That’s true, I suppose… thank goodness my injury is small by comparison.” (I injured myself earlier.)

While we were in Nagoya, there was a moment when I felt “Together, the five of us can overcome this.” Before the actual concert, everyone came over to where I was and we discussed things on the stage… and in that instant, I thought, “I’m glad we’re a group of five.” Of course, it’s not a good thing that I got injured since I caused people to worry, but as this is our last tour before our 10-year anniversary, and it’s our first time hitting five Domes… along with various other things, it’s turned out to be a wonderful tour. Concerts are definitely fun. Immeasureably fun.
[<-- Thank you, [info]mee_goreng ^^)

I often think that our concerts have become the kind of event that all sorts of people can attend, no matter what age, gender, or nationality. It’s awesome to see everyone’s faces from the stage and know that everyone is having fun. In the end, that’s what makes me happy.

EDITS please.

it's always nice and heartwarming to hear how the guys interact together. you can sense how they are more than bandmates and actually a family.

thank you for translating. :)
Liann[info]jliann on July 11th, 2008 06:27 am (UTC)
Hence why I put La Familia on loop while I was doing this XD

But I think Sho gave them a bit too much benefit of the doubt. Those costumes were pretty terrible. (watched them on youtube) XD
Zelel: arashigroup[info]blood_opal on July 10th, 2008 08:21 am (UTC)
Well, I, for one, am glad to know Sho has enough fashion sense to realize that they wear some ridiculous outfits sometimes. XD

“I’m glad we’re a group of five.”

I'm sure thousands of fans agree with your sentiments, Sho. ^.^b Arashi has made my life so much brighter.
Liann[info]jliann on July 11th, 2008 06:37 am (UTC)
Me too ^^b

Whoever said that Arashi works on your system like antidepressants sure knew what they were talking about ~~
(Anonymous) on July 10th, 2008 08:25 am (UTC)
he's so cute xD
so finally someone inside the jimusho is saying something about the costumes, i almost thought they where fashion blind.
thanks for the translation =)
boohaysaging[info]boohaysaging on July 10th, 2008 08:41 am (UTC)
hahahaha. i guess we all have the same reactions on his outfit after all. XD since you mentioned you want to see what he was wearing, I it from a post by redchemistry before~

^__^ thanks for the translation
Liann[info]jliann on July 10th, 2008 03:19 pm (UTC)
LOL XD Thanks for the link!!!

I like how unified everyone's opinions are about that frilled-lizard thing. Poor Sho!
emotion avenger: Yamada Taro- Nino[info]emilenshook on July 10th, 2008 04:00 pm (UTC)
oh god, that really IS the worst outfit ever. hahaha

It's alright, Sho buddy. Better luck next time!

The other four members were definitely not wrong.
Well actually, Sho, they have costumes as horrible as you(look at Nino) Thanks for complaining, Sho. XD
And aww, such member love~ *___*

Thanks for translating!! :DD
Liann[info]jliann on July 11th, 2008 06:39 am (UTC)
Nino looks like Poison Ivy reincarnated as an imp. He's got flowers blooming from every inch of his tiny little self XD

Now I don't wonder why Sho was complaining; I wonder why they weren't ALL complaining ~
salad[info]saladesu on July 10th, 2008 09:40 am (UTC)
Thanks! That was fun to read. Their costumes for the parade part are really... ahem. And it's not just Sho either!! XD

For "低抜けに楽しい"... I haven't a clue but could it be some sort of expression for "extremely fun"? I was thinking that "低抜け" could mean something like "exceeding/to the max" (except that the opposite [kinda] 低 is used?)? Maa~ Should wait for a native japanese speaker to come along~

Thanks again! ^^
Liann[info]jliann on July 10th, 2008 03:15 pm (UTC)
That's what I thought too. I think I zipped through three or four different translators trying to find one that made sense.

Fortunately, mee_goreng pointed out that I had the wrong kanji down in the first place XD Silly me.

You were indeed correct, though. It does mean 'extremely fun' =)
lois[info]loissama on July 10th, 2008 11:39 am (UTC)
aahhh...thank you for translating this.
personally, i don't really like the costumes, i think it's weird and heavy but our boys did it well.
and they are really close, they take care of each other.
that's why i love them...
osak: Sho - Light[info]osak on July 10th, 2008 01:28 pm (UTC)
Aww Sho! ^^ How sweet of him to be glad to be in Arashi. ^^
Well, I hope that their parade makes it on the DVD so, I can see Sho's outfit to see if it's really that bad.

Well, thank you for translating and sharing! ^^

Ah, thank you for translating. Poor Sho-chan!
dreamer1023[info]dreamer1023 on July 10th, 2008 02:20 pm (UTC)
thanks for sharing...he really has an interesting description of himself ne...lol
foru[info]mee_goreng on July 10th, 2008 02:20 pm (UTC)
I think the first kanji is wrong. It should be 底 ne. So it'd be translated as "extremely fun" or "fun to the max" or "it's so fun that nothing can describe how fun it was". LIterally it'd mean "immeasurable fun".. Hope this helps.

Speaking of Arashi's costumes.... God.. it's ridiculous!! But sometimes it can be so suave.. like the black and gold jackets during Time concert if i'm not mistaken.. or the gold jacket during "Ready To Fly" Oh-chan's solo.. But most of the time i have to agree with Sho-kun.. poor Sho-kun.. but you lots look cute anyway :P
Liann[info]jliann on July 10th, 2008 03:13 pm (UTC)
Heh, you're right ^___^
I totally misread that. Thanks a ton!
Will add that into the edits ASAP.
Thank goodness there are people out there to catch my mistakes ~~
foru[info]mee_goreng on July 10th, 2008 06:37 pm (UTC)
No prob. I'll help if i know ^^;; Translating is great ne? I love translating even though i'm just making myself suffer. hahahaha. Because once you've finished translating, you're like ahh so that's what they're talking about. Or oh i've found new words, or new phrases :D It took ages to translate because we're not native speakers (at least to me and i'm a perfectionist as well >__> so it's even harder). So i feel really contented when i translated something (even though it might be wrong one way or another..)
Liann[info]jliann on July 11th, 2008 06:26 am (UTC)
I totally get that ^__^

A lot of the time I find that even though I understand every word in a sentence and what the sentence means, it'll still make no sense to me in the context of what they're saying. I guess that's what we have to face as non-native speakers~~

And since I study English as well, it's always a struggle for me to balance between 'accurate' and 'semantically coherent' ^^" I'm picky about things like that, I guess.

But like you, I've gotten hooked onto it. Sooo rewarding, especially when you realize how much you've learned at the end ~~

tudorqueeny: sexy sho[info]tudorqueeny on July 10th, 2008 03:07 pm (UTC)
omg! The longer they stay in the business the more Flashy and errr... weirder their costume gets... i thought they were like ok with that... but seeing sho's outfit is just... bizzare = lizard!!!
jennah_13[info]jennah_13 on July 10th, 2008 09:53 pm (UTC)
but with me coming out last… it’s like I’ve become the punch line of the parade

I LOL-ed at this. XDDDD HAHAHAHAH. Oh poor Sho-chan~

I've seen paparazzi pics of that costume. LOL. Saitei. XD But srsly, He DOES look like a lizard!!
Liann[info]jliann on July 11th, 2008 06:41 am (UTC)

Even though I'm sad that Sho got injured, it was good for them because it brought everyone in the group closer ^^ Thanks for translating!

Jaden/Jessie: Sho-chan~[info]jadenmd on July 12th, 2008 07:01 am (UTC)
LOL I'm glad Sho feels that way about their costumes. Ah~ logical!Sho surfaces, I see. XD
But it's so sweet that he still does it because his members told him to, and he considers his injury an unfortunate event BECAUSE he causes people to worry. In the end he still thinks about other people. :)
thianpn[info]thianpn on July 13th, 2008 07:31 am (UTC)
Thanks for your translation.
Sometimes I feel sorry for them have to wear some weird costumes. I wonder does JE owner know fan's comments about their costumes? Or any (Japanese) fashioner/stylist has comments like in US? Or the point that JE stylist wants fans remember them by their "unique" costumes? Are they allowed to have ideas for their costumes, or their opinions are abandoned?
They have a really closed relationship, like a family. Keep it up, Arashi.
iluvzaizai21[info]iluvzaizai21 on July 29th, 2008 05:29 am (UTC)
Thanks for translating. It's a relief to know that sometimes even they aren't reconciled to their costumes. :P
